The Escarpment
Macquarie Point, Hobart is a historically and culturally significant site approved for urban renewal by the Tasmanian government. Milieu was awarded the first stage land release for transformation. With emphasis on community and culture, The Escarpment design builds on Hobart’s reputation as an internationally renowned environmental and cultural destination.
The Escarpment was designed as a mixed-use precinct that celebrates Tasmania and fosters community at Macquarie Point—with strong connections to Sullivan’s Cove, the Regatta grounds, the River Derwent and the Headland. The project includes apartments and short-stay accommodation designed for sustainable living, alongside restaurants, cafes, bars, retail and commercial spaces.
The Escarpment was designed in consultation with Hobart residents and key project stakeholders, ensuring a response that celebrates and enhances the local landscape, community and economy. A key component of Core Collective’s role in this collaborative project was to curate the ground plane of the buildings with local commercial operators to ensure the proposal would be lively and activated from Day One, inviting locals to make this new housing precinct their own.
